Three vehicles hit by rocks in Washington auto accidents

Three vehicles were involved in separate Washington auto accidents around 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday in Federal Way according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Softball- and basketball-sized rocks were thrown onto the southbound lane of the freeway at 272nd Street. A semi-truck driver was left with glass in his eyes and lacerations in his face in the truck accident. Two other vehicles sustained damage from thrown rocks, but the drivers were not injured.

The State Patrol is looking for information about the person or persons responsible for the rock throwing in these Washington car accidents.

Seven workers reported symptoms after Hanford toxic waste exposure

According to the Tri-City Herald, seven workers reported symptoms after a Hanford toxic waste spill. The workers believe the toxic material exposure has caused the symptoms. The toxic waste exposure happened after hazardous chemical and radioactive waste spilled from a waste tank on July 27. The CH2M Hill Hanford Group, the Department of Energy contractor at the tank farms, said it would not have expected the exposure to have been enough to cause harm. Workers exposed to the toxic materials complained of upper respiratory problems, upset stomachs, dizziness, headaches, and in some, eye irritation or blurred vision.

Man is killed in Yakima Valley train accident

A man died in a car collision with a train in Yakima Valley near Mabton Thursday evening, according to the Yakima Herald Republic. The Washington train accident happened when the 67-year-old driver failed to stop at an intersection. The railroad lights were on and an alarm was sounded, troopers said, but the driver collided with the front of the train then careened into a railroad equipment shed nearby. Investigators said there are no indicators that alcohol was involved in the auto accident.

Woman mauled in Washington dog bite accident

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported that two pit bulls entered the home of a Pierce County woman through a pet door Tuesday, mauled her in her bed, and killed a neighbor’s dog. The dog bite victim attempted to shoot the pit bulls then fled to her car where she called 911. She was treated for her dog bite injuries at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and listed in satisfactory condition. The pit bulls involved in the Washington dog bite accident will likely be humanely euthanized.

Driver dies in Sumner auto accident

The 19-year-old driver of a Dodge Neon died after being ejected from his car in a car accident on Route 410. His car struck the center barrier of the road at the start of the auto accident, then careened off the right shoulder and up an embankment where he was ejected. A passenger suffered minor injuries in the Washington car accident and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
