An off-leash dog park is one step closer to becoming a reality for residents in Richland, according to KNDO.com, but could it lead to an increase in Washington dog bite injuries?
A pancake fundraiser helped raise money for the dog park.
Residents expressed an interest in the park because it gives people the opportunity to get out with their dogs, and it gives them space to run.

Tri-City Herald reported a 9-year-old boy was involved in a Washington State dog bite accident on Friday evening.
The boy was walking home from a friend’s house when a border-collie mix dog attacked him and caused the Washington State dog bite accident.
As a result of the dog bite accident, the boy suffered severe Washington dog bite injuries on his face and was taken to Kennewick General Hospital where he needed 20 stitches.
Police found the dog that caused the Washington State dog bite accident the next day and requested the dog to be held for 10 days for mandatory observation.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported that the owners of two pit bulls guilty of attacking a Gig Harbor woman have been charged with owning dangerous drugs. The Washington dog bite victim was mauled in her home and suffered numerous dog bite injuries while trying to protect a Jack Russell from the pit bulls.
One of the pit bulls has been euthanized and the other is held at the Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society as evidence in the Washington dog bite lawsuit. If the owners are convicted of the felony charges in the dog bite case, they could face jail time.

A nine-pound schnauzer-poodle mix belonging to a 70-year-old Seattle resident was attacked by two pit bulls on their morning walk, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He suffered superficial cuts to his hand but his pet had to be put down due to her Seattle dog bite injuries. The Washington dog bite attack happened when two unattended pit bulls crossed the street and immediately attacked the pet. The owner of the pit bulls responsible for the Seattle dog bite injuries has been asked to surrender the pets for euthanization.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported that two pit bulls entered the home of a Pierce County woman through a pet door Tuesday, mauled her in her bed, and killed a neighbor’s dog. The dog bite victim attempted to shoot the pit bulls then fled to her car where she called 911. She was treated for her dog bite injuries at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and listed in satisfactory condition. The pit bulls involved in the Washington dog bite accident will likely be humanely euthanized.
